Juba, April 24, 2025 — President Salva Kiir Mayardit has appealed to the Ngok Dinka and Twic communities to honor and uphold the peace agreement they recently signed, urging them to maintain peaceful coexistence in their region.
The President made this appeal while chairing a meeting in Juba, where he received a briefing from Warrap State Governor Magok Magok Deng and the Chief Administrator of the Abyei Special Administrative Area, Charles Abyei Jok. Both leaders were accompanied by county commissioners from the two administrations.
During the meeting, Chief Administrator Charles Abyei Jok emphasized that the Abyei and Warrap communities have decided to pursue peaceful coexistence, marking a significant step towards ending months of tensions.
Present at the meeting, the Commissioner of Twic County, John Mabior Marup, affirmed that President Kiir had instructed local leaders to rebuild trust and strengthen relations between the communities. This initiative aims to foster long-lasting peace in the region.
Additionally, the Commissioner of Rum Amer County in the Abyei Area, Ayuel Kiir Chol, remarked that the meeting with President Kiir had reinvigorated their shared commitment to spreading the message of peace and reconciliation to the people in Abyei and Twic County.
