Governor Bol Wek Agoth Arrives in Tonj for Preparations Ahead of Planned Disarmament Exercise

Tonj Town, Tuesday, July 15, 2025 – The Governor of Warrap State, H.E. Amb. Bol Wek Agoth, received a warm and colorful reception this evening in Tonj Town, Tonj South County, as he began preliminary preparations for the fourth planned disarmament exercise in Greater Tonj.

The Governor was welcomed by the Tonj South County administration, traditional chiefs, community leaders, women’s representatives, youth, and pupils, marking the start of his engagement with local communities on the critical security initiative.

Governor Agoth’s mission is to coordinate and accelerate the dissemination of information regarding the State of Emergency declared on June 5, 2025, by H.E. President Salva Kiir Mayardit. The measure, aimed at restoring peace and stability in Warrap State, underscores the importance of a comprehensive and peaceful disarmament process.

In his address, the Governor appealed for calm and urged all Greater Tonj communities to cooperate with authorities to ensure a smooth and voluntary disarmament. He emphasized that collective compliance would help avert the risks and consequences of a possible forceful alternative.

H.E. Amb. Bol Wek Agoth reiterated his vision of building a peaceful Warrap State where the energy of its youthful and vibrant population is channeled toward economic growth and development, rather than conflict and violence.
