Wunlit, Tonj East County, Monday, August 4, 2025 – H.E. Amb. Bol Wek Agoth, Governor of Warrap State, made his maiden visit to Wunlit, the central hub of the Jalwau community, accompanied by all chiefs of Greater Ananatak, including Sultan Gum Mading Akuecbany.
Upon arrival, Governor Agoth assessed property damages and the conditions of conflict-displaced persons, particularly women and children affected by previous communal conflicts targeting Wunlit.
During the meeting, the Governor reiterated the call for civilians to surrender all firearms to the Government, in line with the State of Emergency declared by H.E. President Salva Kiir Mayardit.
“I want to exchange guns with pens, and exchange machetes with farming tools in order to salvage our people from poverty. We are growing old; let us commit to do what is beneficial to the children who are our future,” Governor Agoth urged the chiefs.
Sultan Mathiang Mabior Dau of Pan-Juac, who arrived alongside the Governor, was finally reunited with his Ador section of Jalwau and affirmed his commitment to peaceful coexistence. Hon. Machot Kur emphasized that Jalwau was incomplete without Pan-Juac and celebrated their reunion.
In his closing remarks, Governor Agoth reminded the Jalwau community of Wunlit’s historical significance as the venue for the South-South Dialogue, which fostered peace between the Dinka and Nuer communities, stressing that Wunlit should continue its role as a unifying and peace-enabling center.
The achieved unity of Greater Ananatak paves the way for a comprehensive reconciliation between Greater Ananatak and Luac Aguer Adel at Romic Headquarters, marking a significant step toward lasting peace and prosperity in Tonj East County.
