-Thiet Payam, Tonj South County, Friday, July 25, 2025 –
H.E. Amb. Bol Wek Agoth, Governor of Warrap State, concluded the dissemination of the State of Emergency in Tonj South County during his maiden visit to Thiet Payam, calling for the disarmament of the Apuk Juwiir community.
Addressing the gathering, Governor Agoth urged collective responsibility in educating and shaping the mindset of the youth to prevent future involvement in theft, cattle raiding, and violence. He highlighted that heinous crimes—including killings, revenge attacks, cattle raiding, theft, incitement to violence, and sexual offenses—will be subject to State of Emergency regulations.
The Governor received assurances of cooperation from Tonj South County leaders and Greater Tonj youth intellectuals based in Juba, represented by Malok Bol Akot, Samuel Malook, and Morris Mabior Awikjok, who called on their community to comply with the disarmament initiative.
“Conflict and development cannot appear on the same page. Peace will enable the 2026 elections to take place, and the eventual re-election of President Kiir will allow the SPLM to fulfill its promise of taking towns to the people without interference,” stated Governor Agoth.
In support of the Apuk-Juwiir community, Governor Agoth provided a consignment of flour, assorted food items including beans and cooking oil, and extended financial assistance to various schools in Thiet Payam.
The visit reinforced the State Government’s commitment to peace, youth development, and the advancement of socio-economic progress in Warrap State.
