Tonj Community Hall (Kanaf), Tonj South County, Tonj Town, Sunday, July 20, 2025 – H.E. Amb. Bol Wek Agoth, Governor of Warrap State, presided over a crucial forum of Greater Tonj intellectuals in Tonj Town, successfully facilitating reconciliation between Gen. Aleu Ayieny and Hon. Lewis Anei Kueindit. The move is seen as a significant step towards strengthening peace in Greater Tonj amid the ongoing State of Emergency.
Addressing the forum, Governor Agoth reflected on the contributions of Warrap citizens during South Sudan’s liberation struggle, highlighting the roles of prominent figures such as Gen. Aleu Ayieny and Hon. Lewis Anei Kueindit. He emphasized the importance of cooperation among intellectuals, urging leaders to demonstrate the spirit of peace and reconciliation so that the youth could emulate these values.
“Today, cooperation between intellectuals is vital. Leaders like Gen. Aleu and Hon. Lewis should lead by example, showing the youth that a pen is mightier than a gun. A pen can build bridges, save lives in hospitals, and revolutionize agriculture,” Governor Agoth stated.
Both Gen. Aleu and Hon. Lewis echoed the Governor’s call, urging the youth of Greater Tonj to forgive past grievances and follow the path of unity for lasting peace and development across Warrap State.
The forum underscored the pivotal role of intellectual leadership in promoting reconciliation, fostering community cohesion, and guiding the next generation toward constructive engagement and societal progress.
